At the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, Maria served on the executive team as the Director of Institutional Advancement from 2013-2015. During her time at MOCA, contributed income rose by 28%. She led the completion of the first ever MOCA endowment campaign of five million dollars as part of the overall $35 million capital campaign that began in 2008. Additional experiences at MOCA include defining and enhancing member, patron and corporate programming and stewardship with an emphasis on continued fund growth. She worked closely with volunteers and staff in order to create programming and marketing specifically tailored for each audience. Under her leadership, MOCA also enhanced a membership renewal campaign in order to retain energy gained through MOCA’s spectacular new building.

Prior to MOCA, Maria served as Director of Development for the Western Region of the National Trust for Historic Preservation for seven years. During this time, Maria managed major gift fundraising throughout the western United States, which included patron, foundation, and planned gifts. In addition, the National Trust for Historic Preservation successfully completed a $175 million campaign of which she was an integral member. Her work during that campaign included forming a regional committee (the only region that organized through volunteers) which was touted as a unique and vital part of the great success in growing support in the western region.

Other development experience includes managing individual fundraising at RARE, an international conservation organization focused on changing human behaviors. She also served as Director of Membership for a financial association for over seven years, and worked in real estate and asset management for LaSalle Partners in Washington, DC.
